Nesting

Jim Giordano  -  10:13 AM  -  Extended circles
In the infinite universe, this tiny sparrow...a mere speck in time, ekes out his life and surviving as best as a bird can. We too as human beings are but miniscule moments in the ocean of life and making the most of those moments is a noble endeavor. Don't wait....make your nest today.

...Different Spring

Differences as to how we perceive objects is one of the special things people do.  The avenues in our minds take multiple twists and turns to arrive at a particular point in time.  I see a flower and imagine it blue.  This is a good thing.     See ya.............jimmy

...Mellow Yellow

Sometimes a photo comes out just the way you want it to.  An amateur at best when it comes to photography, I appreciate being able to take a pic that I really feel has "something".  Simple, soft and serene is how I view this early spring daffodil.  Hope you like it.  See ya.......jimmy

...First Flowers

It's very unusual for these flowers to bloom this early in the year, but this has been a very strange winter.  Anyway, I might as well get a pic while I can.  See ya...........jimmy

...end of the day

In human terms, there almost always is an end to the day, but life continues to go on outdoors whether it's 7pm or 3 in the morning.  We have the benefit of our homes for protection, but the wildlife here in this mini forest of west Dearborn Michigan, do not get a pass.  They must endure the elements and the dangers.  I admire their struggle and am thankful.  Nature can teach us lessons of life and how we can overcome our struggles meandering about in the human forest of which we all are a part of.  See ya.........jimmy

...caught snoozin'

This was supposed to be my debut.  I have been in previous blogs, but with someone else speaking for me.  So now I get my chance and look at me!  I couldn't help it frankly.  The temps outside were hovering close to 70 and the tree limb was oh so comfortable...fit me like a glove.  What can I say?  In future blogs, I promise to be a bit more alert.  Like jimmy and ralphy would say.....see ya!

...how did that happen?

I don't get it.  How did I get stuck between these two bird brains?  Got to talk to jim about this.  If my pic was at least on top, I wouldn't mind too much, but this is a bit humiliating. Am I really not on top of the "pecking" order, or maybe should I be a bit more humble?  I think I know the answer and though I am a bit "miffed", I do realize my bird buddies are actually pretty interesting individuals.  See ya.........Ralphy

..wood peckin'

If you pay attention to your outside surroundings, ocassionally you will run across some interesting "stuff".  This red-bellied woodpecker was caught on my camera just the other day.  Apparently there is something edible in this utility pole, because he spent a whole lotta time peckin'. Like I said, you just have to look.

Looks kind of bleak, but winter will give way to spring very soon.  It's just around the corner.

...picnic in the park

Happened to be at Kensington Metro Park in Milford, MI and was fortunate enough to steal a few pics of this sandhill crane.  It is amazing the kind of wildlife you can discover even if you live just a half hour or so from Detroit.  Hope you liked the photo.  See ya..........jimmy

...I see you

...1st Big Snow of 2012

I knew it couldn't last...a winter without a substantial amount of snow.  Hey, I love this white stuff.  The cold and flakiness pushing and squishing about my paws is a wonderful sensation.  When I am dashing at full speed , I love the feel of snow jettisoning itself away from me as my legs push offWhat's not to like?  See ya.............Ralphy

..the Gift

The simplicity of this tiny bird attached to a tree branch reminds me everyday of the wonders of life and how lucky I am to be a part of it.  Nothing should be taken for granted.  Your life is a gift...enjoy it.  See ya..........jimmy

...forgetful Winter

Winter certainly has played tricks with us this winter year 2011-2012....so far.  I do not remember, EVER, when shoveling snow didn't occur.  My snow blower still has no gas in it, the new plug is sitting on top of it, and the new oil....well it's still new oil.  I am not complaining, but I am surprised.  I don't know whether this dove likes the winter snow or not, but I suspect he or she is also not going to be too upset about this unusual weather we are having here in Michigan.  Anyway, it is still early in February and the "winter stuff" can still happen...but I suspect maybe old man Winter  simply has forgotten that it is winter.  What do you think?   See ya..............jimmy

...visits to cherish

Sometimes, just ordinary everyday occurences can be unique, special and meaningful.  Visiting
my parents the other day was great.  My Mother prepared a wonderful dinner for myself, Jane and Ralphy.  Yeah, Ralphy likes to visit my parents too and they enjoy seeing him too.  Anyway, just being able to be in their company gave me a wonderful feeling of warmth and joy.  After all, they are my Mom and Dad.  Visit someone you love to make them happy and you will find the happiness to you will be returned tenfold.  See ya..............jimmy
...the pic above is really beautiful and colorful...the artist to me is unknown.

...showin' off in the snow

...snow bound

Wow, the middle of January and this is the first real snow!  I love the white stuff, but my family isn't too fond of driving in it, so I guess it's good for them.  See ya.........Ralphy

Hanging On

Rocky here..............Sometimes hanging on is the best you can do.

...squirrley daze

I'm in a daze.  How does this Rocky character get all of this blog attention?  Look at me.....cute, sophisticated and world renowned.  I guess all it takes is a "peanut brain" and a busy tail and I get booted off the main headlines.  Where is the gratitude....what planet am I on?  Anyway I will find someway to get back in the good graces with the blog editor and take my rightful place back at the top.  Oh, I'm just kidding!  I love those pesky squirrels and they are adorable and lots of fun to chase.  A little bit of press is good for them.  Peace...........Ralphy

...if I had a hammer

Rocky here...yeah I know I'm on the blog below, but I love the attention.  Amazingly the ground still isn't frozen and it's already January 7th.  Good for me, because I can easily dig out my winter food supplies without a jack hammer.  Actually I don't own a jack hammer, but you get the idea.  Maybe this will be a calm winter.....oops...I hope I didn't jinx us all!  Just in case, get your snow shovel ready.  Sorry guys!  Peace.............Rocky

....on the road again

Rocky here.......anytime you see me running across the road and you're driving,  please try not to hit me.  By brain is the size of a small peanut and well you might guess my traffic safety abilities are extremely limited.  I am cute and I offer your neighborhood a sort of National Geographic suburban "thing".  So please watch out for me and my family.  Thanks and Happy New Year 2012!

...winds of winter

January.01.2012..............The date might be significant to us, but to these birds, it's another day to survive.  Maybe this birdhouse will give them some shelter because the winds of winter are on their way.  Happy New Year birdies!!!!
