...every day
How many times do we pass by a thing of beauty and fail to give it its due. One of the most wonderful things our brain tells us, is how pleasing something is. If our gray matter failed to inform us, the experience of witnessing a majestic waterfall would go unnoticed and unappreciated. We simply wouldn't be able to identify "beauty". Fortunately, our brain tells us all the time so that we may revel in our existence and all that surrounds us. We can ignore what we see and sadly Every Day many of us do just that. Every Day. Beauty can only be beauty if we see it as such. In your backyard you might notice the solitary quiet of a daylilly swaying back and forth to the gentle summer breeze. Even if for a brief moment, give this flower its due and enjoy its eternal wonder. Wherever you are, open your eyes to the beauty that surrounds you and do this every day......
..the glow of perfection
Those "doggie" brown eyes, soft and glowing, melts me like ice cream on a hot summer afternoon. Ralphy talks more with his eyes than some people do with their mouths. The stories he tells me are not always understood, but it's ok , because no matter what, they are pure and true. Ralphy knows no other way and because of him, I am a happier individual. Throw in lots of love and forever no questions asked loyalty....those hypnotic brown eyes........you get the best life has to offer..............Ralphy.

...hey, it's Alvin
Actually, Ralphy had this chipmunk "trapped" in one of our bushes. He kept vigil at the foot of the bush and just wouldn't let the furry critter go. So I took the opportunity to take his picture and he was very obliging. You can tell it's summertime!

...more of Detroit
The top photo is the Columbia Boblo Boat. It is obvious, it has seen better days, but when it was grand, it was something special. The bottom photo is a lighthouse along the Detroit River, I believe in between the RenCen and Belle Isle. If I am wrong about the location let me know.

Redlight King - Old Man
I picked this up from my Facebook page. I liked it so much I put it on this blog. This is a Neil Young song from way back, but this particular version is totally excellent. I know you will like it.
...hiding from the Bear
Ok, I'm not as young as I used to be....(actually you can say that statement everyday and be correct), so this is the reason why I am laying down, panting and keeping a look out for my buddy Bear. I will be 4 this year on July 4th and Bear just turned 1, so it is easy to see why he sometimes wears me out. This younger generation of bow wow's have got a lot of get up and go! Being more mature and smarter, I know when to play my paws and right now the most intelligent move on my part, is to lay low and catch some O2. By the way, I hope you got the hint....my birthday is coming soon!!! see ya.............Ralphy
...river's edge
I photo shopped the pic, but this seagull is sitting on a worn out metal post alongside the Detroit River. Even in the despair of rust and ruin, beauty can be found.
...era long gone
As a child in the 1960's, my parents took me to Boblo Island. To get there, we went on the Boblo Ferry. This is a photo of one of the Boblo boats, docked and distressed. It was a fun era. We would go down the Detroit River, have some great food to eat and eventually arrive at the Boblo Theme park with all the fun rides and sights. All things good or bad unfortunately must come to an end and this poor boat that gave so much pleasure to thousands upon thousands of people, is now just a memory in the past. Reality can often times be sad, and this is sad.

...winter survival
Standing here alone on a bleak January morning, this tree, leafless and snow covered withstands the elements so that when May arrives, it can rise to its majestic green beauty for all of us to see and appreciate.
...Stepping up....stepping down
Life is a series of ups and downs and it has bright days as well as not so bright. So what did I tell you, you didn't already know?
...just right
In the course of shooting photos, every once in awhile one of them just jumps at you. I just love this setting...calm, warm and relaxing. A great picture is not because of the photographer but the scene itself. Sometimes everything turns out just right.
